SOtD: Backroads, Corey Taylor

I might be a little obsessed with Corey Taylor. Just a lil' bit.

I can't say I like everything---Slipknot is a bit hard even for me. But his Stone Sour and his SOLO stuff especially? SWOOOOON worthy!!

I love this song. So much so that the stupid song spawned a whole new series in my poor writer brain.

The lyrics echo a man that's a little battered and bruised from a life on the road. This is a perfect look into the Rockstar life and why they move me so very much in my writing.

*AUTHOR's CORRECTION - Evidently there's another Corey Taylor out there...and he's totally different. WHOOPS! I watched some of Corey's stuff on YT from when he went out an did some acoustic shows and totally thought this was more of the same! MY BAD!!

Heck...I got a retweet from Joey Jordison from Slipknot! So I sure as shit thought it was one of Corey's songs! Sooooo sorry, OTHER Corey!!

SOtD: Kill the Lights, Matt Nathanson

I haven't done this in awhile, but I think it's time to bring back my Song of the Day blogs.*sigh*

I love this man.

Seriously...probably to an unhealthy degree. He makes me laugh and he makes me think. His lyrics stick with me far more than any other artist. He's a heady mixture of poet, defeatist, optimist, and the boy is an Aries thru and thru.

Is it any wonder that I love him?

This is his first venture into Kill the Lights for a live setting. It's got a few bumps, but this shows why I love him so.

Matt Nathanson in a live setting is pure gold.

Corey Taylor Obsession pt 1 I've been listening to Corey Taylor's song with Dave Grohl ad nauseum which is the next post. But man. Any man that can show his humor and love for power ballads, you already have my heart.

Poison's Every Rose Has Its Thorn never quite sounded like this. Oh and a Bruce Springsteen ending? Yes...yes, Corey you are officially on my radar.

Wet and Wild Blog Hop: SUSPENDED + $10 GC giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the Wet and Wild Blog Hop!

I just wanted to thank Skye Warren for hosting this awesome blog hop. She goes above and beyond to help authors and readers get their hands on some truly amazing stories and prizes. Make sure you stop in at her blog!

SuspendedThis spring I released my first ultra sexy novel with Loose Id. It's a fun, sometimes angsty, road trip story about Kendall Proctor and Shane Justice.

One surprising will reading has the power to change their lives and set a course for a whole new destiny.

“Not one thing has made sense to me today.”

Her gaze dropped to his mouth as she reached behind her for the bookcase that lined the wall. Her attention darted back up to his eyes. Her chest heaved, and her nipples tightened under her blouse.

The slap of her apple scent threw him off. He grasped her upper arms. The silk of her blouse crumpled under his hands; her skin was warm and disturbingly fragile. He had no business touching her, but her huge doe eyes pulled at him.

He hauled her up onto her toes and slanted his lips across hers. Taking, not asking. She sucked in a breath, her jaw slackened in shock. And bastard that he was, he took advantage. He wanted to feel something beyond the chaos. Even the slap of her hand again if that was what he got.

He swiped his tongue into the warmth of her mouth and slid along hers. She sagged against him. He transferred his grip onto her hips. Instead of pushing him away, she wound her arms around him. The fierce scrape of her nails through the short hairs along his nape snapped whatever leash he had left.

She held on, crushing her chest into his. He backed up, lifting her into his arms. Blind with the anger that transferred into lust, he acted on instinct. From the moment she’d walked up to the house, he’d wanted to know just how she tasted. The bitter edge of coffee and the sweet tang of the melon she’d eaten drew him in, and he wanted more. He sucked her tongue into his mouth and was rewarded with a moan of surprise.

She opened wider, and they fought for a deeper taste. The scrape of her teeth along his lower lip ended in a nip that left his lip and his cock throbbing.

He hoisted her onto the table and jerked her skirt up. She lifted her legs around his hips and pulled at his shirt. “This is just sex.”

He nodded. He could live with that.

Along with the awesome prizes on this hop I'm going to give away 2 eBook copies of SUSPENDED as well as a $10 GC of my own--dealer's choice. AMZ or BN--whichever you prefer.

All you have to do is answer one teensy question in the comments.

Does Summer mean STAYcation or VAYcation for you and yours?

And now for the big prize make sure you enter below.

#atozchallenge Day 4 : D - Default

Default makes quite the appearance on my current WIP's Playlist. I love their melodic rock style. Any band that's heavy on guitars is pretty much all right with me. Something infinitely sexy about that damn instrument. Give me a guy like Dallas Smith and his yummy voice and I'm good to go.

I'll get tarred from some, but I love that Nickelback's Chad Kroeger gave this band a leg up. I think established bands should give back to the struggling ones. Really awesome to hear that they helped out so much.

Default: The Memory Will Die

Default: The Way We Were

Both of these songs are on my SEDUCED playlist. Any Rocker with a soft side works for me.

Sue me. I'm a girl.

#AtoZChallenge Day 3: Coldplay

This song is a little ode to my girl, Cari Quinn. We listened to this song ad nauseum for about 3hrs when we were holed up in a hotel room for a writer's workshop weekend. LOL

Insanely catchy and the epic feel of the song totally matches the crazy video.

Of course now it's synonymous with her and it's her own fault. LOL She dared me to keep playing it, so I did. Somehow we still love the song even with the loop of madness. ;)

Do you have a song that evokes a strong memory with a friend?

AtoZ: Day 2 - Bon Jovi

One of my all time favorite bands is Bon Jovi. They've weathered thirty years of heckling, musical climate changes, wardrobes, and the all important HAIR. Heh.

If JBJ was reading this he'd roll his damn eyes so hard. He hates when people talk about his hair. LOL

Jon Bon JoviNo, honestly--when I think of Bon Jovi I do think about more than the ridiculously attractive front man. At 51 he's still freaking unbelievably hot. It's not right.

It's ludicrous.

Ahem. But I digress...

When I talk about Bon Jovi--when I'm not lusting over the front man--I talk about the story songs.

Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi are really good at dragging you in and telling you a story. The lyrical content tends to be a little more adult themed these days. How can it not? They're not 23 years old anymore.

But there's still songs that remind me of Born to Be My Baby, Prayer, Sat Night, etc.

This song off the new album, Because We Can, showcases that tried and true and rip-your-guts-out-with-a-grin kind of song that reminds everyone that they still have the chops to release another new album even 30 years down the line.

Thick as Thieves

In a world without faith

you're what I believe

If I robbed a bank

You wouldn't care

You'd come sit on my lap in the electric chair

And when they flip the switch, we'd just kiss

Day 1 - AtoZ Music, Writer's POV

Welcome to my crazy writerly blog. I'm Taryn Elliott--zany romance author, and lover of all things music. To say my taste is eclectic would be putting it mildly. This is my 2nd year doing the AtoZ Blogging challenge. I met some really awesome people the last go-round. I really enjoy the interaction and the challenge of writing up a post a day. I'm under deadline and a little crazy--I mentioned that earlier huh? Oh well...bears repeating--but I'm going to do my best to make sure posts go up every day. I decided on music as my daily topic. I'm a writer and sometimes I actually get sick of blogging about my craft. What I don't ever get sick of is music.

I'm slightly obsessed with it actually. Probably because I have no musical ability whatsoever. LOL

So I figured it would be fun to write up about fave bands, songs, and vids in an open forum where people can bitch, bash, or squee about my crazy choices. I welcome them all! Oh and I totally welcome your input and suggestions on musicians. You can find me on SPOTIFY under Taryn Elliott.

A SPECIAL shout out to the big momma of this whole crazy blogger filled interaction! Thanks Arlee Bird, at Tossing it Out, for coming up with the idea. I know it's a lot of work, but we appreciate it VERY much!

Now...onto the posting.

I heard this one on the radio when I was out doing errands this weekend. I liked the song so much I totally did the illegal phone move to find my music app. Seriously, I don't know how I lived without Soundhound and Tune Up. I'm forever finding songs on a tv show or the radio that I want to dissect.

So, for my LETTER A, I'm going with

Adelita's Way - Alive

[framed_box bgColor="#150083" textColor="#FFFFFF" align="center"]

You're the only reason I fight

You're the best thing in my life.

There's something endearing about a rock band that writes really good relationship songs. I don't know if it's the sensitive poetic side that I love, or the fact that a man can simply give us a tiny trip into their minds and tell the listener how they feel. Whatever it is, I gotta say...Relationship songs are my all time fave songs. The good, the bad, and the painful--I love them all.

And just in case you don't have SPOTIFY in your region...

Skyfall : Hell to the YES!

This movie is OFF THE BLOODY HOOK!

I do believe Skyfall has hit the Red Box & DVD buy/rental stores everywhere. This is a must see in so many ways. I love the Bond movies. I will always love the Bond movies. But oh sweet holy freaking hell. I was a damn mess through this whole movie. You come alive again just like share his struggle both in spirit and in body. And Daniel Craig? Hooooooooooooooly Hanna what a body. There's this scene that's less than a minute long when he's just coming back into himself and it is a scorcher.

As a romance author I can only hope to write a red-hot scene like that. And it's not with the typical Bond Babe. But oh sign me up for that little cameo role.

This movie is:

All the things we need in a Bond movie and THEN they kick it up a notch.

Did I mention HELL TO THE YES? Because...YES, YES IT IS.

Here's a little uncensored press junket about it. Oh Daniel Craig you freaking fox.

Story Songs

I'm not sure there's much out there that makes me happier than a story song. As beautiful as a musician may be on the outside, hell even a heart of gold and the most charismatic man that ever walked this planet--ahem, Elvis--can't compare to a man that pours his heart and his soul into lyrics.

Christian Kane is still finding his way on stage IMHO. He's not consistent in every style of playing, but when you put an acoustic guitar in his hands? Oh, hell yes.

Hell to the fucking yes.

Surrender to Temptation Part 1 and 2

Surrender to Temptation Part I: Tempted to SubmitSurrender to Temptation Part I: Tempted to Submit by Lauren Jameson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It's hard to review a serial series, so I guess I'll just review the pieces as separate entities.

Just a few words that come to mind as I read the first part and before I could even check email or add this to my GR shelf I went in and bought part 2.

I know there are books out there that have the same tone as this one, but there's something about Mz. Jameson's voice that tugged at me far more than the famous names that have come before her. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed them, but this had something else that drew me in and wouldn't let me go.

This has everything you could want from a book. Even if I did swear just as much as Devon when I hit the end. ;)

part two of the Billionaire Zach story starts here. He's enticing, confusing, thrilling and the emotions bubbling under the surface are as destructive as magma.
At least they feel like that when you're in the middle of the moment with Devon.

Devon has moments of devilment in the middle of her insecurities that draws Zach. She's not a simple submissive, she's not afraid of him like most women are. Not in the dangerous fear aspect, but more because he's a powerful man that is used to people following his orders. On top of the dominant flavor of his sexual proclivities he's a force to be reckoned with.

Devon shatters him and it pisses him off as much as it compels him to want more from her.

Devon's confusion and near obsession with pushing Zach and herself for more is the driving force of this piece of the series.

And the sex scenes are breath taking.

I'm not really into the D/s stories. But there are some cases that take me out of my comfort zone and make me want to walk through the door into that world and experience it through the characters. Devon is at a crossroads. She's tired of treading water in her life and wants more, but doesn't quite know how to get what she wants.

Zach and his demons are just as dark and compelling as you could ever want, but it doesn't feel like he's as broken as other characters out there. And that's a good thing. I feel like Zach can have a happily ever after not just because of the love of a good woman, but because he's on the cusp of something more with Devon.

I hope to hell the rest of the series lives up to the emotions this bad boy is pulling from me.

Naughty New Years Bloghop

Welcome to my stop on the Naughty New Years Bloghop

It's that time again! When all of us to reflect on 2012 and figure out what the hell we're going to do about that shiny new year staring us in the face.

Author-wise, I've got a lot of plans this year. I'm starting a new project with my best friend, Cari Quinn, and we're so excited about it! We're writing an ultra sexy series called Lost in Oblivion that chronicles the band Oblivion.

Our first book will tell the origin story of Oblivion as they go from a garage band with a dream, to the reality of insta-fame thanks to a breakout song for a Soundtrack. We're going to do that through a teaser novella that will come out in the next few months. Then really push boundaries with longer novels that go in depth with all the individual band members.

Is there anything sexier than a lead singer that looks like this? Simon

or how about a bassist that looks like this: Deacon

Umm... Yes please.

Oh and putting together a website for it. Even more fun! (I'm a freak. I love designing sites.)

As an author a new year is full of new projects, a new calendar, and so many possibilities. We want the next year to be better than the last. Even MORE than we want to plan that New Year, New You plan that always ends in a gym membership you won't really use. LOL

But one thing we can do is give everyone a chance to win something they really WILL use. Everyone that enters a reply here not only gets a chance to win my giveaway, but they're entered in a GRAND PRIZE giveaway that includes a $100 Gift Certificate to EdenFantasys.

AND 10 sexy books to put all those toys, candles, and bubble bath to good use.

To enter it's REALLY easy! All you have to do is REPLY to this question. Since I'm writing a series about musicians I want to know what attracts you to a musician? Is it the talent, the look, a combination, or is it something else completely?

And if you don't give a crap about musicians in books tell me why. Because I'm seriously curious. ;)

Reply here for a chance to win one of my books (in the ebook format of your choice) from my catalog.

Oh and don't forget to visit all the other blogs for more prizes PLUS increase your chances for the grand prize!
